Two recent online articles featured New York cemeteries – Johnson Cemetery in Wellsville (Alleghany County) and Oakwood Cemetery in Niagara Falls.
The online version of the Olean Times Herald reported about issues with the Johnson Cemetery, which dates back to 1840. The cemetery is suffering from neglect. Read how the American Legion Riders Post 702 is stepping up and will work on fixing headstones and making on overall improvement of the cemetery grounds. The group will conduct fundraisers to help with costs of the project.

The online version of the Niagara Gazette reported about a digitization project taking place at Oakwood Cemetery. After receiving grant funding, the cemetery had 19,000 of its Burial Permit cards digitized. Phase 2 of the project will be creating a searchable master index of the cards.
