The Green-Wood Cemetery has recently finished digitizing 60 volumes of burial registries listing the names of everyone buried at Green-Wood from 1840 through 1937.
The ledgers contain just about 433,000 people. Records after 1937 have not yet been digitized.
The project began before the pandemic when Green-Wood had the 60 volumes scanned and sent to a company in India to be indexed. Each entry contains 12 data points. Besides the name and cause of death, other information includes: age at death in years, months and days, marital status, place of birth, where the person lived before they died and where each person died.
Searching includes Boolean, fuzzy, phrase, and wildcard. Fielded search allows searching on a specific data field.
