The Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx will be presenting an “Irish-American Christmas Tour” on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 1 p.m.
This trolley tour will visit Woodlawn memorials to Irish-Americans from the worlds of entertainment, history, politics, and military heroes. The guided 70-minute tour includes visits to beautiful mausoleums and monuments. Among the stops are composer of “Babes in Toyland” Victor Herbert, silent film star Olive Thomas, Mayor John Purroy Mitchel, author of “Darby O’Gill and the Good People” Herminie Templeton Kavanagh, The Four Cohans starring George M. Cohan, and the most popular Irish-American songwriter on the Jazz Age, Chauncey Olcott, composer of “My Wild Irish Rose,” and “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling.” There will be singing, a trivia contest, and hot chocolate.
