The Historic Oakwood Cemetery Preservation Association, located in Syracuse, will be hosting guided walking tours at Oakwood Cemetery once a month through October.
Sunday, July 21 – “The Tree of Liberty” – Central New York was a hotbed of the Abolition Movement and many of its participants are buried at Oakwood Cemetery. Learn about the stories of some of these people.
Sunday, August 18 – “Section 66: The Rest of the Story” – There’s a lot to see in this section. This is the second part of a tour that was given in 2019.
Sunday, September 15 – “All’s Fine in 59” – Join the tour guide as she tells the stories of some of the most interesting “residents’ of Section 59.
Sunday, October 20 – “We’re Fallin’ For Oakwood” – Professor Dan Leopold will lead one of his legendary tree tours.
All tours begin at 2 p.m. The tours are free but donations will be appreciated. Tours will be take place rain or shine.
