The Naples Historical Society (Ontario County) will be offering a Headstone Cleaning Class on Saturday, July 20 from 10 a.m. to noon.
It will take place at the Morgan Hose Building in Naples and at the Fairview Cemetery. This class will cover the proper, conservator approved, methods of cleaning all types of gravestones. Participants will also learn about the common methods that actually damage the stones. All the conservator approved chemicals, tools, and techniques for a successful “Do No Harm” cleaning will be discussed.
After registration and introduction to the proper cleaning of historic gravestones in the Morgan Hose Building, there will be a trip to Fairview Cemetery for hands on cleaning of some historic headstones.
The presenter is Dave Bloom, a member of the Naples Historical Society and is presently working on restoring Sutton Family gravestones in the West Hollow Cemetery, Naples.
The cost is $10 to cover materials. To register, go to: https://www.naplesnyhistoricalsociety.org/events
