Cemetery cleanup, fundraiser to take place in Patchogue

Friends of Lakeview Cemeteries in Patchogue will have hosting a Fall Cleanup Day on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 10 a.m. for the cemeteries located on West Main Street.

The group will be raking leaves, picking up litter and trimming overgrowth. All ages are welcome. Wear work shoes and gloves and bring tools if you have them. If not, tools will be provided.

In addition, the group will be having a Veterans’ Day Fundraising Tour on Monday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. Benjamin Homan died in the Civil War at the notorious Andersonville Prison. Ticket sales from this tour will help professionally restore his grave and funds raised will be doubled thanks to a matching grant from the Robert David Lion Gardner Foundation.

The tour of the cemeteries will highlight many graves of over 100 veterans from the Revolutionary War to Vietnam. Tickets are $20. Only 50 will be sold. For more information go to the group’s Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/CRCPatchogue
