In the December issue of the Walnut Grove Press newsletter produced by The Fenton History Center, it was noted that the Henderson Lincoln Funeral Home scrapbooks, containing obituaries, have been completely digitized.
The Funeral Home first appears in the 1899-1900 Jamestown City Directory. The first scrapbook was kept by the family, and Vol. 2 begins with obituaries from 1915 and the last volume is Vol. 33 ending in December 1967.
Because the volumes were deteriorating from use, it was decided to digitize the collection. The Center received a donation from the Thule Lodge, a nationwide Swedish organization that was formed in Jamestown, that made the digitization possible.
The project in total created 4,500 separate scans and the scrapbooks are now stored in archival boxes.
