Ulster County Archives digitizes genealogy magazine

The Ulster County Archives has recently added a collection of digitized journals to the New York Heritage website.

Olde Ulster: An Historical and Genealogical Magazine was published from 1905 – 1915  and was published to be a history magazine to fill the void in  local historical scholarship left by the collapse of the original Ulster County Historical Society. The magazine’s specific aim was to collect and disseminate both interpretive material as well as transcriptions of primary sources deemed rare or otherwise threatened.

The magazine published a wide variety of articles, genealogical summaries, transcriptions, and solicitations for research materials. It covers a wide array of subjects while also preserving the evidence of historical resources now lost or unavailable to the modern researcher. Some of the topics include: baptismal and marriage registers for Kingston in 1815; cemetery transcriptions and records of Rochester Church.
