The Erie Canal Museum, located in Syracuse, will be hosting an in-person genealogy workshop, “Techniques for Discovering Your Ancestors’ Origins,” on Saturday, March 15 at 1 p.m.
This workshop focuses on immigration from 1820 to 1900. Learn about various types of records that could help you determine your ancestors’ homelands, such as England, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Norway and Sweden, and Switzerland. What can you do to trace your family if there is no passenger manifest? Sometimes lesser-used sources might shed light on a person’s origins, or give you clues to determine a family’s original city, region, county, or province.
Bring a laptop or tablet for best results. The cost is $20. To register, go to: https://www.simpletix.com/e/genealogy-workshops-with-pamela-vittorio-tickets-202912
