Steele Memorial Library (Chemung County) will present “County Courthouse Records of New York State” on Tuesday, April 1 at 6 p.m. This presentation tours numerous New York State County Courthouses and demonstrates common records one can expect to find along with examples of unique records that researchers may not be familiar with. Also discussed are dissolved courts, various index systems, and finding digitized courthouse records. South Huntington Public Library (Suffolk County) will offer an in person Genealogy Drop-In on Thursday, April 3 from 10 a.m. to noon. Thinking about tracing your roots but don’t know where to start? Or maybe your search is under way and you’ve hit a dead end. Retired librarian PJ will be on hand to show you how you can access free genealogical resources, including Ancestry, through the library and to offer search tips and advice. Clifton Park – Halfmoon Public Library (Saratoga County) will a Genealogy Drop-In on Thursday, April 3 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Drop in with questions from 11 am-12 pm, stay for the round table discussion starting at noon.
The Chatham Public Library (Columbia County) will host Chatham Roots genealogy club on Thursday, April 3 at 2 p.m. This free monthly genealogy club can assist in the search for your family. For beginners, experts and everyone in between. We will work on those elusive ancestors, break down your brick walls, share tips and tricks and just have fun. Marlboro Free Library will offer a “Getting Started with Genealogy” class and workshop on Saturday, April 5 from 11 a.m.. to 1 p.m. During the 11:00 a.m. presentation, attendees will learn how to map out a family tree, methods to record findings, review the basics of using AncestryLibrary.com, and hear about other free research websites. Walk-ins are welcome. At 12:00 p.m., workshop attendees will apply their research skills to make discoveries. The Williamson Public Library (Wayne County) will present “Genealogy Group Tech Help” on Tuesday, April 8 at 1 p.m. The in-person program is designed to provide the basic and intermediate instructions needed to use the genealogy researching features on Ancestry.com Library Edition. Bring your questions and your laptop, if you have one. No registration is needed.
