NYS library to offer in person genealogy classes

The New York State Library in Albany will be offering two in person genealogy programs in April.

Learn about using FamilySearch.org on Thursday, April 3 from 2-3 p.m.

FamilySearch Affiliate Libraries have onsite access to digital microfilm data that is not available to researchers using FamilySearch resources from their home computer. The New York State Library partnered with the New York State Archives to become a FamilySearch Affiliate Library. Learn how to access genealogical records and online books included in this database.

Learn about Ancestry.com Library Edition on Wednesday, April 16 at  2-3 p.m.

Learn about the Ancestry Library online database which is accessible at the New York State Library.  Learn how to access census records, genealogy and history book, maps and other resources included in this database, as well as the resources on Ancestry NYS page, which are freely available to all New Yorkers. This class will also include search tips and strategies, how to save records, printing and how to create a family tree via Ancestry.
