Utica’s Forest Hill Cemetery to offer programs for the public

Forest Hill Cemetery, located in Utica, will host series of events and preservation initiatives to commemorate its 175-year anniversary.

Forest Hill was established on April 26, 1849 and the dedication ceremony took place on June 14, 1850. The Forest Hill Cemetery Preservation Foundation is committed to the restoration, preservation, and respectful remembrance of Forest Hill Cemetery.  In addition, the Foundation is pursuing arboretum accreditation.

Upcoming Events:

*Forest Hill Cemetery: A Landmark of Memory and Design

Saturday, April 19, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. –  This event celebrates the cultural and historical significance of Forest Hill Cemetery through walking tours, historical interpretation stations, and interactive art installations.

*Family-Friendly Scavenger Hunt

Sunday, May 18, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. – In celebration of International Museum Day, this event will introduce younger generations to the history of Forest Hill Cemetery through an educational scavenger hunt.

*175th Anniversary Celebration

Saturday, June 14,  4 – 8 p.m. – Marking 175 years of history, this event will celebrate the stories, legacies, and landscapes that define Forest Hill Cemetery.
