Chatham Public Library (Columbia County) “Chatham Roots” club meets the first Thursday of the month from 2-3 p.m. to assist in the search for your family. For beginners, experts and everyone in between. Work on those elusive ancestors, break down your brick walls, share tips and tricks and just have fun. Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library (Saratoga County) offers genealogy assistance the first Thursday of the month at 11 a.m. A genealogy researcher will help you with your questions, roadblocks, and other stumpers.

The Guilderland Public Library (Albany County) will offer one-on-one genealogy consultations on Wednesday, Nov. 8 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. This is a drop-in session, no need to register.
The White Plains Public Library (Westchester County) will present “Tracing Native American Ancestry” on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. Have you heard you had Native American ancestors, but you were not sure how to confirm the legend? Learn how to check the Dawes Rolls, analyze Indian territory census records, and examine other record collections to see if your ancestors held tribal affiliation. The Hudson Area Library (Columbia County) will present “128th NY Regiment and Columbia County Contributions to the Union Army” on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 6 p.m. This is an in person meeting. The talk focuses on the history of the Columbia and Dutchess Counties regiment in the Civil War, the 128th, including the momentous siege of Port Hudson, Louisiana. Over the course of the war, many died and many were sent to Libby Prison. Some of these soldiers are buried in Cedar Park Cemetery. During this event the Hendrick Hudson chapter of the DAR will be displaying the 128th Regiment battle flag.

Crandell Public Library (Warren County) will offer genealogy one-on-one assistance meet on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. Are you interested in your family history but have no idea where to start? The New York Public will present “Genealogy Research with Maps” on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 1 p.m. This class will describe how maps in the collections of The New York Public Library and elsewhere can be used to drive genealogical research. The focus will be on digitized maps. Learn about fire insurance maps and atlases, military and topographical maps, county maps and atlases, and many more kinds of maps. Monroe Free Library (Orange County) will host a Genealogy Walk-In program on Friday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to noon. Come to the information desk and ask for Mike. Buffalo & Erie Public Library will have volunteers from the Western New York Genealogical Society in the Zintz Library Collection on Friday, Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. to noon and Saturday, Nov. 18 from noon to 5 p.m. to assist patrons with their genealogy work.
