On Saturday, January 13, the Fenton History Center will be hosting its 11th annual Lock-In from from noon to 10 p.m. You can come for a few hours or the entire time.
There will be volunteers to help you to get started if you are new to the process. For those of you who are more experienced, we can work together to brainstorm solutions to those brick walls that we all encounter. It is quite informal and very friendly.
There are five computers, or you can bring your own laptop. There are databases on the center computers such as Ancestry, FamilySearch and Archiv Digital. There are also hundreds of family files that local people have donated of the research they have done on their family. City directories, town histories, funeral home records and cemetery records for Chautauqua County are some of the most used resources located at the library. Many of these are found nowhere else. Family trees and family group sheets are available.
Food and drinks will be provided. The cost for the day is $30 per person. To sign up, call 716-664-6256.
