With the warmer weather, tours are being offered in April at some of the larger cemeteries in New York.
Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx will offer a “Connection to the Titanic” tour on Sunday, April 14. Woodlawn is the final resting place to a dozen Titanic passengers, more than any other site in the U.S. This tour of their gravesites will also include the sites of several people who became indirectly, intertwined with the catastrophe. This is a trolley tour.
Cost is $25 for adults. $20 for students and seniors.

Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn offers an “After Hours Tour “through the cemetery’s stunning landscape and visit the graves of fascinating figures in New York and American history. This walking tour ends with a visit to the Catacombs, which are normally closed to the public. Tours will take place on April 13, 19, 20 and 26 starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 for non-members and $25 for members.

Green-Wood will also offer a “Moonlight Walking Tour”, led by historian Jeff Richmond, which begins at sunset and is accompanied by the sounds of live accordion music. The tour is on April 24 beginning at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 for non-members and $25 for members.

Explore Buffalo will offer a tour of Jewish cemeteries on April 28 at 2 p.m. This tour will tell the story of Jewish immigrants coming to Buffalo. Visiting these cemeteries provides a look at the growth and evolution of Buffalo’s Jewish community. Some of the symbolism and design features found within the cemeteries will be discussed – both on individual monuments, as well as of the cemeteries themselves.
