Cemetery tour to be offered in Scriba on June 29

There will be a walking tour of Historic Riverside Cemetery, located on Old Route 57, Scriba (Oswego County), on Saturday, June 29 at 11 a.m.

It is the final resting place of thousands of men, women, and children from the greater Oswego area. The tour guide, historian Dr. Natalie J. Woodall. has researched many of these people in connection with her study of Oswego County’s role in the Civil War.

Woodall will provide brief biographical information about selected people and, if applicable, about their family members. If you have ever wondered about names such as Oliphant, Ames, and Oliver, here is an opportunity to become better informed.

The program is being sponsored by the Oswego County Historical Society and Friends of Riverside Cemetery. A nominal donation will benefit ongoing renovations at Riverside Cemetery.

Those interested in this tour should contact the Oswego County Historical Society at 315-343-1342 for more information and to sign up. Enrollment is limited to 12.
