Green-Wood Cemetery will offer many tours in February. Here are two of the upcoming themed tours.
On Saturday, Feb. 1 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. join the “Happily Never After” walking tour.
This isn’t your typical romantic outing. Join this spellbinding stroll where love stories take on a darker, more dramatic twist. Discover tales of forbidden passion, tragic farewells, and scandalous affairs that defied convention—and fate. On this walking tour, you’ll meet the ill-fated Victorian lovers Charlotte Canda and Charles Jarrett, hear the shocking details of Henry Ward Beecher’s affair with Elizabeth Tilton, and uncover the heartbreaking story of Theodore Roosevelt’s wife, who tragically died on Valentine’s Day.
The cost is $24 for members and $30 for non-members. To register, go to: https://www.green-wood.com/event/happily-never-after-2/
Green-Wood Cemetery will also present a trolley tour, Brooklyn’s Black Trailblazers, on Saturday, Feb. 8 from 10 a.m. to noon.
This tour trolley will spotlight Black pioneers of Brooklyn and Green-Wood. You’ll visit the memorials of revolutionary artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, civil rights leaders Grace Nail Johnson and James Weldon Johnson, mathematician Charles L. Reason (the first Black college professor in the United States) and other trailblazers who left a lasting impact.
The cost is $12 for members and $15 for non-members. To register, go to: https://www.green-wood.com/event/brooklyns-black-trailblazers/
